Thursday, 18th March 2010 at Al-Khobar seafront under the patronage of His Royal Highness (HRH) Prince Mohammad Bin Fahad Bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of the Eastern Province. The motto of the race was “To support various campaigns of voluntary works.” A number of government officials, businessmen, journalists, sports and social figures have attended the event in the Eastern Province.
BSF’s sponsorship for the past decade, came in tandem with its corporate social responsibility to curb domestic violence which was launched last year in association with the Ministry of Social Affairs. The campaign was met with wide acceptance.
It is known to many that the annual charity run started as an idea expressed at one of the parents’ meetings which was held periodically at Al-Dhahran Private Schools. The idea was met with applause and encouragement of the parents and pupils in 1994. Then a the Committee of the Annual Charity Run was formed including parents, businessmen, teachers and pupils of Al-Dahran Private School. The idea became gradually crystallized and clear, and the number of the committee members increased.
The committee also received a high-level support by HRH Prince Mohammad Bin Fahad Bin Abdulaziz, the Eastern Province Governor, the government officials, private institutions and businessmen and charitable societies in the Eastern Province, who also witnessed the remarkable successes since its humble beginnings.
