HARITY RUN TO PROMOTE TRAFFIC SAFETY AWARENESS

Al-KHOBAR: The 16th Annual 10-kilometer charity run is to be held at Al-Khobar Corniche on March 10, to promote traffic safety awareness.

The run will start at 1:30 P.M. at the south end of the Corniche and end at 6:30 P.M. The race is held every year to raise funds for charity.

Abdul Aziz Al-Turki, the chairman of the organizing committee, told Saudi Gazette that more than 10,000 participants are expected. He said the event is being held this year to promote traffic safety awareness among citizens and expatriates. “People between the ages of 15 to 70 will participate, including people with disabilities,” he said.

Al-Turki said that participants can choose to run either five kilometers or 10 kilometers. Runners can register at various booths at the Al-Khobar Corniche. The main sponsors are Aramco, Saher (traffic department), Saudi Pan Gulf, Rawabi and ATCO. Registration is SR50.

The organizers are also holding a motor bike race to add color to the event.
